Training for the Bega River LSE Big Swim

On the first day of winter, 6 swimmers braved the 7km swim in the Bega River, in training for the Bega River LifeSaving Energy Big Swim on 8/6/08. Giles Ellingworth,John Kendrigan, Grant Prowse, Rob Gordijn, Matthew Nott and Luke Hamilton all started off with great confidence in the cold water.

John was in trouble early

Within 20 minutes of starting the swim, John suffered the cold water swimmers greatest fear.

Acute testicular retraction, a problem that has to be addressed immediately.

Giles and Luke watch nervously from a safe distance.

Grant couldn't believe his eyes, so used his ear instead.

John recovered well, and we all made it to the halfway point intact.
