  1. Solar Farm update – we’re hoping to receive our first installment of the feasibility study fund in the next month and will proceed with seeking answers to some basic questions (which technology, business case, funding model etc) – I’ve attached a brief overview produced for public meetings in Tathra and Jindabyne (where we have another group keen to develop a macro renewable farm of some description, whether solar or wind)

  1. Wind Farms – several companies have passed through CEFE Shires (Bega, Eurobodalla, Snowy River and Cooma-Monaro) in the past six-nine months. One in particular seems very seriously interested in getting some runs on the board – Mainstream Renewables (begun by the people who previously ran Airtricity, thus lots of experience in Europe, Ireland in particular, but nothing on the ground as yet in Australia ). CEFE is working with them in the hopes that we can get a wind farm up and running somewhere in the region in the next two years – it will certainly help us move towards our 50/50 by 202 target!

  1. Energy Efficiency – Bill Caldicott from our Bermagui CEFE group, has begun a series of energy clinics, getting the ball rolling on energy efficiency gains, easy fruit that is importabt both from aspects of reducing energy consumption (our first 50% target) but also in showing people that change is possible, sometimes quite simple, and usually worthwhile from both an economic and ecological perspective (living comfortably with less waste).

  1. CEFE is working with ANZSES to run Sustainable House Day on Sunday 14th , with 6 houses opening down here. Originally a bus tourwas coming down from Canberra, but I believe this has now transformed into a self-drive exercise for popele willing to drive themselves and come down to spend the Saturday night at the Ecotel in Narooma for $30

.

  1. CEFE is again short-listed for the Eureka Prize for Innovative Solutions to Climate Change, so a small CEFE group will be in Sydney for the award dinner on Tuesday – no expectations but it would be handy to win as it is a prestigious prize awarded by IAG. Otherwise I’m around & contactable on the numbers below I’d be very glad to pick up the phone and fill in any further details if you are keen.
