A day in the life of a VIEW Club...
VIEW Clubs invite interesting and exciting guest speakers to monthly meetings. The speakers can help members to learn as well as give members some entertainment and enlightenment. Below is an extract by Julie Henry 'Black and white and read all over' from the Great Lakes Advocate about Pacific Palms VIEW Club monthly meeting.
At our last dinner meeting we welcomed the editor of the Great Lakes Advocate Carmen Swadling who gave a talk about her life's journey to become editor which was very interesting. She also spoke of her role at the paper and some changes she has implemented with her team. We all wore black and white in her honour and enjoyed her youthful enthusiasm as she spoke about her life and the issues faced in our area with the paper. We all enjoyed your talk. Sue Williams, Sharon Hope and Deb Lawson were presented with their badges as new members of our club. We also voted on five resolutions as part of the 22,000 women in VIEW Clubs throughout Australia. Our club decided to support the implementation of a national strategy for young disabled Australians and hope that it will be looked at further.
